Do you want tips and tricks to make your audience hang onto your every word? The secret to making good use of silence in your presentation?Leeuwarden City of Literature and Tryater will give a five-part workshop series performance art for professional writers and poets.

In this workshop series, you playfully explore the possibilities of transferring a text. You will work with actor and theater teacher Karel Hermans with your own texts, poetry or prose, in the language of your choice. In four meetings, you will discover what your qualities are and what you can work on. Fun and imagination are the most important. Together, we will discuss posture, use of voice, interpretation, and theater technique—the tools of a good elocutionist. After the four meetings, we hold a joint public performance.

Leeuwarden UNESCO City of Literature invests in a professional literary climate in Leeuwarden and Friesland and organizes this workshop series, co-developed by Explore the North, as part of the creative writing program. Professional writers and poets can register before June 18th. Use the green button below this text.

Participation is free. We make a selection based on the applications and will let you know in the week of June 21st if you have been selected to participate. If you have been selected, we expect you to participate in all evening workshops (September 23, September 30, October 7 and October 13 from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM) and the public performance (October 14 from 8:00 PM to 9 p.m. Location: Tryater, Oostersingel 70, Leeuwarden).
