This season, library dbieb will once again be presenting the successful lecture series Spraakmakende boeken (Remarkable Books). Each evening focuses on a different book. Leading specialists, often affiliated with the Faculty of Arts of the University of Groningen, discuss a literary work that is currently in the spotlight. The lectures take place on Wednesday evenings.
The following titles will be discussed:
- Wed 28 sept. – Lisa Weeda: Aleksandra
- Wed 9 nov. – Gerbrand Bakker: De kapperszoon
- Wed 30 nov. – Elif Shafak: Het eiland van de verdwenen bomen (The Island of Missing Trees)
- Wed 8 feb. – Marcel Proust: Op zoek naar de verloren tijd I, “De kant van Swann”, deel een, ‘Combray’ (À la recherche du temps perdu I, “Du côté de chez Swann”, ‘Combray’)
- Wed 8 mar. – Damon Galgut: De belofte (The Promise)
- Wed 12 apr. – Douglas Stuart: Shuggie Bain
- Wed 17 may – Jonathan Franzen: Kruispunt (Crossroads)
