From 14 to 16 September 2022 the Fryske Akademy, Mercator, NHL Stenden and University Groningen are organising the second Conference on Frisian Humanities in the Westcord WTC Hotel in Leeuwarden. The theme of the conference is Resilience. How can a small language survive in an increasingly globalizing world?

There are, among others, various interesting presentations on Frisian literature:

  • Anthropology of the ‘voice’: how RIXT Frisian Poets Pack manifests itself in the political cultural landscape of Fryslân – Eelke Veltman
  • Where are the women? – Janneke Spoelstra
  • The resilience of the Frisian language: Place and contribution of Tony Feitsma in a tense field of forces – Session with 4 presentations by Sigrid Kingma, Hilda Schram, Redbad Veenbaas and Liuwe H. Westra, and book presentation of the Feitsma biography to the King’s Commissioner Arno Brok
  • Lapekoer Gabe Skroar 1822-2022 – Session with two or three presentations (Eric Hoekstra, HJ Hilarides) and a debate about the future of the Frisian literature.

Furthermore, there will be lectures and presentations about multilingualism, Frisian history and Frisian identity.
